Take a moment to taste some of Scotland’s finest!

Whisky in this area is known for being light and delicate with notes of vanilla and oak. There are at least 15 distilleries within a 2-hour drive from Yonderton. Here are some of our favourites.

  • Historic red brick building with tall chimney, surrounded by trees and a fence, under a partly cloudy sky.

    Annandale Distillery

Formally owned by Johnnie Walker, Annandale is one of Scotland’s oldest working distilleries and only Single Cask Single Malt Whisky Distillery. They offer tours giving a glimpse into the heritage and craftsmanship behind their whiskies. We would also highly recommend a visit to the Maltings Coffee Shop in the former malting floors. A 2-hour drive from us.

  • Copper pot stills inside a distillery with metal flooring and large windows.

    Lagg Distillery, Arran

For hundreds of years small Arran communities made their own spirit in illicit home-made stills. The resulting whisky, which became known as ‘Arran Waters’, was smuggled from Lagg and sold on mainland Scotland. Now reviving Lagg’s heritage, legally of course, the Distillery honours the historic craft of whisky-making while embracing a modern approach to peated single malts.

  • A tasting table with glasses of whiskey and bottles of whiskey, some with pour spouts, on a wooden surface with a cloth runner, in a warm-lit setting.

    Bladnoch

This “Queen of the Lowlands”, Bladnoch is the oldest privately owned Scotch Whisky Distillery in the world. With over 200 years of rich history, it is known for its signature Lowland style of single malt whisky, which is typically light, delicate, and grassy with floral hints. Bladnoch offers tours and tastings but booking is recommended. Just a 90 minute drive from us.
